I live como escribo: with a greca in hand, a fregao waiting, and a story always in progress.
I am Aidé — a Creative Producer, Story Architect, multi-passionate human, poet, mentor, and the voice behind Bonooq, Mujeres Oruga, and Bonooq Press. Beyond titles, I am a mother, a journaler, a retreat host, and a believer in living a true life, even in its beautiful messiness.
For me, writing is both a means of survival and a celebration.
I’ve learned that inspiration is the easy part — the hardest (and most transformative) step is consistency. Showing up with the page, again and again, even when life is loud or imperfect. That’s what I teach and embody through mentorship, retreats, and publishing: helping others find their rhythm, their truth, and the courage to create without waiting for the perfect moment.
Bonooq is the umbrella of my work: a space where everyday stories matter, where creativity is messy but real, and where consistent practices turn into books, healing, and community.
If you’ve ever felt you didn’t have time or space for your art, know this: your story is already in progress —
let’s write it together.
My name is Aidé Montilla.
A writer, poet, storyteller, and literary alchemist. A multi-passionate human rediscovering herself every day.
I wrote my first short story at sixteen. I still remember the trembling hands, the racing heart, and the small voice inside whispering, “Maybe this isn’t for you.” That voice followed me for years. But something in me refused to stay silent.
Since 2014, writing has been my refuge, my mirror, and my way back to myself. I’ve learned that inspiration comes easily — but what changes everything is practice and consistency. To sit down with the page, even in the middle of life’s fregao, greca in hand, and a story always in progress.
In 2021, I published my first poetry collection, Un invierno sin ti — a love song to heartbreak. In 2023, I released Madres Solteras, an intimate exploration of the stigma of single motherhood. Along the way, I’ve created planners, journals, and writing tools that blend creativity with healing and self-trust.
But my path is not only about my words. It’s also about holding space for others to write, heal, and, if they wish, publish.
In 2021, I founded Bonooq Press, an independent and human-centered publishing house for first-time writers who don’t know where to begin. For me, Bonooq Press is more than self-publishing — it’s self-trust. It’s believing your story deserves to exist in print and in the world. I’ve had the honor of mentoring writers through the full journey, from messy beginnings to polished books.
In 2023, I also founded Mujeres Oruga, a soft landing for women seeking emotional rest, conscious writing, and reconnection. What began after the isolation of the pandemic now lives through retreats, workshops, and guides. Mujeres Oruga is not therapy — it’s a reminder that you are not alone, and that coming home to yourself is possible.
Experience and Training
I’ve facilitated workshops for the Dominican Writers Association, INDEX, the Dominican Civic Cultural Center, and the Ministry of Culture Abroad. With over ten years of experience as an editor, content creator, and designer, I bring both technical skill and creative intuition to every project. I’m trained as a Breath Coach, certified in Mental Health First Aid and Resilience, studying Bibliotherapy, and completing a Copy Editing certification at City College of New York, where I’m also pursuing a B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing.
Above all…
I’m a woman in progress. A mother of three. A coffee lover. A slow but steady runner. Someone learning daily to respect her timing, write truthfully, and live with intention even in the middle of life's fregao.
Everything I do — through Bonooq Press, Mujeres Oruga, my workshops, or my books — is born from one mission:
to help people live truly, write consistently, and trust their stories enough to share them.
